Summer Study Abroad Application Process
Step 1: Follow the instructions on the page.
Step 2: If you are eligible, consider applying for a . Contact the if you are interested in applying. Program providers may also provide summer scholarships. Keep in mind that often these awards are small and do not cover the full cost of the program.
Step 3: Apply for your summer program directly through the program provider. We strongly recommend using a reputable provider and therefore recommend getting advice from your study abroad advisor.
Step 4: Inform the Global Learning Office of your program selection so that we can give you institutional approval.
Step 5: Complete the Petition for Transferred Credit form by May 1 and submit it to the Registrar’s Office. The Petition for Transferred Credit requires your academic advisor’s approval and may also require department chair approval if you are seeking credit for a major or minor requirement. When submitting the petition for approval, make sure you have attached course syllabi and/or course descriptions.
Guidelines for Summer Study Abroad
- Students may only transfer a maximum of two 51ÁÔÆæ credits from a summer study abroad program.
- The final transcript should be sent to the Registrar’s Office.
- Students must earn a letter grade of C or higher to be able to transfer course credits. Additionally, students may not take the course Pass/Fail or Credit/No Credit.
- 51ÁÔÆæ does not provide financial aid for summer study abroad.
