Covers one year of study in any discipline at a German university. Applications are welcome from freshmen through post docs. Open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and Canadian citizens.

Levitt Social Innovation Fellowship
Provides funding to develop and implement a social innovation venture. The term of the fellowship is for 12 months and for projects implemented in Oneida or Herkimer Counties, N.Y.

Tenable at any British university for two years of study in any discipline. U.S. citizen is required.

Provide funding for one year of post-graduate study in either Ireland or Northern Ireland. U.S. citizenship is required.

Provides funding for one or two years of study at Oxford University. Open to U.S. citizens and citizens of other eligible countries who must apply in their home countries even as students studying in the U.S.

Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Fellowship
Provides funding for periods ranging from three months up to two years for post-graduate study abroad. U.S. citizenship is required.

Samuel Huntington Public Service Award
Provides two $10,000 stipends each year for graduating college seniors to pursue a public service project of their own design anywhere in the world.

Supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the U.S.

St. Andrew's Society Scholarship
Provides funding for a year of graduate study in Scotland. Open to U.S. citizens of some Scottish descent.

Provides $36,000 for a year of international travel to pursue an independent self- designed project. Open to graduating seniors, U.S. citizenship is not required.
Study Abroad

Gilman International Scholarship
Defrays the costs of study abroad for U.S. citizen students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding.

Funds the study of a foreign language considered vital to the country's national security for one summer and one academic year for undergraduates.

U.S.-Japan Bridging Foundation Scholarship
Provide funding for one semester of study in Japan. Open to U.S. citizens; all majors encouraged to apply; Japanese language facility is not required.
Science & Math

DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
Supports full-time doctoral study in the U.S. in an applied science or engineering discipline with applications in high-performance computing.

National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship
Support graduate students in fields important to national defense needs. This requirement is defined broadly and most prospective graduate students in the sciences and engineering are eligible to apply.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
Provides up to $7,500 for each of the final two years of undergraduate study for current sophomores and for one year for current juniors.

Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship Program
Scholarship provides funding for tuition, living expenses, books and other required fees for the length of the graduate degree program up to six years.

UNCF-Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship
Awards are intended to encourage the interest of African American undergraduate students in furthering their science education and pursuing biomedical science careers by providing tuition support and opportunities for research experience in a state-of-the-art industrial laboratory.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Provides support for research based graduate study leading to doctoral degrees in the natural sciences, mathematics, computer sciences, engineering, behavioral and social sciences, and in the history or philosophy of science.
Undergraduate

Pays $2,000 for the senior year, $15,000 per year for the first two years of graduate or professional school. Fellows must be nominated by the College.

National award that provides funding towards senior year and for the first three years of graduate study. Designed for students interested in a career in public service (defined very broadly).

Supports students who intend to pursue careers related to environmental issues and/or environmental public policy. Also, it supports Native Americans and Alaska Natives who intend to pursue careers in health care and tribal public policy.
International Students

Individuals interested in artistic and technical production, arts administration and community engagement. Fellowship provides a modest stipend.

Women of any nationality with a superior academic record and a bachelor's degree in science or engineering. Fellowships carry a stipend of $6,000; approximately 35 are awarded annually.

Full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Both graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions are supported.

Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden citizens for study or research programs (usually at the graduate level) in the United States for up to one year. Awards are made in all fields.

Individual fellowship grants to artists, scholars, students, and specialists from Asia for study, research, travel and creative work in the U.S.

The AD Program offers about 300 postgraduate scholarships a year for studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions.

Undergraduate applicants must be in their second or third year of college and expect to major in science or a related field. Graduate students must have been admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. in a life or physical science or engineering program.

Year long paid internship for graduating seniors interested in careers in international affairs. Internship is at the Carnegie Endowment for World Peace in Washington, D.C.

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is for students from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts who are applying to a master degree program in a development-related topic.

Annual fellowship for advanced study of Fine Arts in the U.S. or abroad, to enhance professional standing or to finance a special project. Preference for candidates under 25 years. There are three fellowships of $7,500 each in art, architecture or music; an additional music fellowship for $15,000; and up to three alternate awards of up to $1,000 each.

Approximately 20 ($2,000-$3,000) awards are offered to students in the U.S. in need of financial aid to further their education at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Open to graduating seniors to engage in one year of self-designed independent study and travel abroad. Proposed project should involve investigation into an area of demonstrated concern and personal interest, it should be creative, feasible, interactive, and personally significant -- critical elements are commitment, quality of project, and match of project to the individual, feasibility, and the ability to work and travel independently.

Winston Foundation for World Peace Fellowships
Supports undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in cooperative security, conflict resolution, and disarmament. Fellows design their own projects, usually involving public education, media outreach, grassroots organizing, or another active approach to issues of cooperative security, nuclear arms control, conventional arms transfers, demilitarization, democracy building, conflict resolution, and the like. Applicants are expected to work full-time with a non-profit organization. A stipend is provided for the duration of the project, which lasts from 2-4 months during the academic year or summer.
