Clearing Your Cache and Cookies
If your computer is not performing at its usual rate when browsing web pages (e.g. it’s “slow” or “hangs” sporadically), the first thing you want to do is clear your cache and cookies. Every web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.) caches visited websites to reduce bandwidth usage and server load. This allows your web browser to display pages faster by loading them from the cache stored on your hard drive. However, sometimes the cache can take up disk space and result in slower browser performance. Cookies are used by websites to store information about a particular activity. Clearing your cache and cookies will occasionally allow the browser to perform faster and free up space on your computer's local hard drive.
