Chaplains are available for individual counseling sessions with students and other members of the campus community to discuss any areas of concern: relationships, academic pressures, parents, stresses from roommates or friend groups, vocational discernment, and general anxieties of daily life.

Counseling sessions can also be a crucial way of addressing the difficult loss of someone you love: a parent, a sibling, a close friend. Grief for people in your life who have died takes a lot of different forms, but sometimes it's difficult to find someone to talk to about the experience of death — especially on campus, removed from people who share the loss. And especially a few months (or years) after the death has occurred.

We typically offer a Student Grief Support Group in the middle of the fall semester for any student who has experienced the death of a loved one—a parent, a sibling, a close friend—and would like the chance to talk about it with other students who have experienced a similar grief.

Individual meetings to discuss the loss of a loved one are also available for any student struggling with this experience.

Don’t forget, we have a Counseling Center for members of the community who are looking for professional psychotherapy. They can be reached at 315-859-4340.

Help us provide an accessible education, offer innovative resources and programs, and foster intellectual exploration.
