Assistive Technology Resources
The Accessibility Resources Team, which includes members of Library and Information Technology Services and the Accessibility Resources Office, addresses reading and writing (print) challenges faced by students with various learning differences and disabilities. The team coordinates resources through the use of a number of assistive technologies to provide coursework materials in alternate formats. Services include:
- Assistance with setting up individual memberships with and (both provide books in audio format)
- Contacting publishers to inquire about and obtain books and textbooks in electronic formats (audio files)
- Scanning books and articles to create audio files
- Text to speech software on all computer lab machines
- Screen magnification software on all computer lab machines
- A magnifying machine for reading located in the library (primarily for students with visual impairments)
- Instruction on speech-to-text software
