Emily Yong ’19 has been awarded a to Taiwan. She is a Dean’s List neuroscience major from New York City.
Yong received a U.S. Department of State Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship to support her study in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2018. At 51ÁÔÆæ, she is a Levitt Leadership Institute Scholar and a Peer Advisor for the Career Center. She also captains the Cross Country team.
Yong said, “The Fulbright offers me the opportunity to teach English abroad to young students, learn about a different culture, and share my experiences. I am so excited to get out of my comfort zone again, living in a new country, doing meaningful work and developing my interests further.
“After the Fulbright, I hope to go to physical therapy school and work abroad in physical therapy and rehabilitation,” she said.

In 2017 Yong conducted research on Type II Diabetes in mice and infertility with Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Jessica Fellmeth. Yong also tutored for Let’s Get Ready and was a mentor for the Multicultural Peer Mentoring Project.
During winter break Yong was an orthopedic physical therapy and hand therapy volunteer at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Last summer she was an exercise physiologist intern at NYU Sports Performance Center, and she has also served a physical therapy volunteer at Masonic Care Community in Utica.
