Anderson Tuggle, a candidate for May graduation from 51ÁÔÆæ, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Turkey. He is a history major at 51ÁÔÆæ and studied abroad in India in 2012.
At 51ÁÔÆæ Tuggle was the recipient of a in which he researched India’s political integration after achieving independence from Britain.
A Dean’s List student, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in February. Tuggle has attained the rank of Eagle Scout and hopes to find a troop of the Scouting and Guiding Federation of Turkey when he is there to compare how the organization exists outside the U.S. He writes for the Spectator, is a member of the College Democrats and its executive board, a member of 51ÁÔÆæ Alumni Leadership Training, a member of Phi Alpha Theta an national history honor society, an Alexander 51ÁÔÆæ Institute Undergraduate Fellow, and a WHCL 51ÁÔÆæ radio DJ .
Tuggle published ain July, 2013, about India’s mid-day meal program which he had researched when he was in India. The letter was in response to the reported deaths of 22 children in India after they ate contaminated lunches.
The Fulbright ETA Program, an element of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, places U.S. students as English teaching assistants in schools or universities overseas, thus improving foreign students’ English language abilities and knowledge of the United States while increasing their own language skills and knowledge of the host country. ETAs may also pursue individual study/research plans in addition to their teaching responsibilities.

Upon his return to the U.S., Tuggle hopes to pursue a career in public interest law. The son of Deborah Daro and Arthur Tuggle of Hinsdale, Ill., he is a graduate of Hinsdale Township High School Central.
