Steven Pet ’12 has been awarded a Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History fellowship to attend a one-week program in June in New York City. Pet, a government and history major from New Milford, Conn., is one of 30 college sophomores and juniors to win the annual national award.
According to the Gilder Lehrman Institute website, the program “fosters an interest in American history through field trips, discussions with professionals about careers for history majors, and lectures by leading scholars such as David Brion Davis, Christopher Leslie Brown, and Pauline Maier.”
Founded in 1994, The Gilder Lehrman Institute provides programs and resources for students, teachers and scholars of American history. It offers a variety of seminars, lectures, fellowships and other awards, and produces publications and traveling exhibitions related to topics in American history.
