Four Library and Information Technology Services staff members recently presented at the annual Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges (CLAC) Conference. The conference brought IT professionals from the consortium’s 77 member institutions to Macalester College for an opportunity to discuss how liberal arts colleges can use technology to enrich student learning, facilitate teaching and research, and support the institution.

Jerry Tylutki, director of information security and privacy, led “Identity Management is a Marathon, Not a Sprint,” a session in which he shared the key drivers behind implementing an effective identity management program at 51ÁÔÆæ. He discussed challenges encountered during the project, and outlined a path to success for such initiatives.

A session titled “This is the Way - Cultivating Joy in a Post-COVID Galaxy” was co-led by Research Librarian for Digital Initiatives & Experiential Learning Alex Wohnsen and Tylutki. They presented about the LITS Foundations Program, designed to improve workforce engagement in a post-COVID workplace, and discussed employee morale and engagement.

Lisa McFall, associate director of digital initiatives and technology, and Nhora Serrano, associate director for digital innovation, learning and research, co-led a roundtable discussion on “Supporting Women in IT and Library Leadership Roles.” They were joined by their colleague Katy Gabrio of Macalester College.
