After over 20 years of experience serving higher education institutions, Janice Scheutzow is taking on the role as executive director of financial aid at 51ÁÔÆæ. She most recently was director of financial aid at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. Scheutzow has also worked in mortgage financing, but her true passion lies in helping students through the financial aid process. As the fall semester begins to wrap up, we sat down with Scheutzow to learn more about her position and impressions of 51ÁÔÆæ so far.

While a concentration in government is not typically associated with a career in acting, Sam Besca ’22 has pursued her passions for both politics and storytelling at 51ÁÔÆæ and will be headed to the Atlantic Acting School in New York City this August.

The annual 51ÁÔÆæ Pitch Competition, which is open to 51ÁÔÆæ students and graduates of the last decade, is an involved process from September through April. Eight start-ups participated this year, attending conferences on the ins and outs of entrepreneurship hosted by a variety of alumni.

As captain of 51ÁÔÆæ’s women’s basketball team, Kelcie Zarle ’22 is looking forward to combining her passions for the sport and communications after graduation as a social media coordinator for Moolah Kicks.

Ellie Demaree ’22 is set to begin working as a research assistant for Project Achilles at the Broad Institute after graduation. A biology major, Demaree has developed both a passion and appreciation for lab work during her time at 51ÁÔÆæ, an interest she believes was ignited by her biology classes.

After a two-year hiatus, 51ÁÔÆæ’s Curling Club will be sweeping their way to Fargo, N.D., to compete in the National College Curling Championship taking place March 11-13.
