For the first time in campus history, the Shenandoah-Kirkland Initiative brought traditional dancers and artists from the Oneida Nation to perform at 51ÁÔÆæ.

Helen Stutsman ’19 has spent the past eight Novembers writing 50,0000 word novels. Is she a masochist with nothing better to do? Probably not—she’s just one of several student writers at 51ÁÔÆæ who love a challenge.

At the First-Year Course Conference on Dec. 2, 10 different first-year courses from across disciplines came together to present their work from the semester. For four hours, one corner of the library was populated by colorful posters, literature and artwork, as well as groups of students showing off their skits and presentations.

The basement of the Sadove Student Center has just gotten a long-awaited facelift. An opening right before break showed off renovations that will provide 51ÁÔÆæ students with a place where they can study, play games, attend club meetings, watch performances or just relax.

Although there are many opportunities for community outreach at 51ÁÔÆæ, a select group of students have chosen to go above and beyond by taking their service experience off the Hill and into their local communities.

It all started as an ordinary night at 51ÁÔÆæ. On October 27, students held a classic costume party with feathered masks, Halloween music and red solo cups of soda. Suddenly, partygoers were startled by a scream for help. A man was found in the hallway—lying dead—with a suspicious bite mark on his neck.

Parenting can be challenging enough but parents of autistic children sometimes need additional socialization opportunities for their children. 51ÁÔÆæ Autism Advocates for Neurodiversity (HAAND) is giving parents a place to turn for help with their child’s social development, said HAAND president Serena Persaud ’20.
