Those on the climbing trip will begin at Chapel Pond, on the outskirts of Keene Valley.

The valley walls surrounding Chapel Pond are home to several well-known quality climbing areas, including the famous Beer Walls and Jewels and Gems.

After setting up camp, the group will be introduced to climbing equipment and safety practices. The climbing gets more challenging on day two, but there are always routes within the grasp of every participant. Grasp - get it? I'll get my coat...

Most climbs range between 40 and 70 feet high, with difficulty chosen according to the abilities of the group. On occasion, a climber will find herself (or himself) at eye level with the soaring falcons that nest in nearby cliffs.

Time permitting, building anchors and placing protection may also be covered.
