Course Description:

What does writing style have to do with philosophical content? We will look at the "old quarrel" between the philosophers and the poets, and look at the ways in which philosophy was and is written, to think about what counts as philosophy and why and how we mark it off from its others. Readings by Borges, Calvino, Kafka, Coetzee, Plato and others.
