A survey of the history of capitalism through an environmental perspective, from the sixteenth to the twenty-first centuries. With particular focus on the lived experiences of economic life and environmental transformation in the non-Western world. Major themes include early modern origins of capitalism, industrial revolution and colonial expansion, the 鈥済reat divergence鈥� between Asia and Europe, global history of commodities, and the ongoing crises of global capitalism in light of environmental degradation and climate change.
